Technical Specifications

The fourth version of our SWING benefits from a refined design and inherits all the evolutions of the new, and fourth edition as well, of the STRIKE. With its refined design, the fourth version of our SWING offers first-rate sensations while providing controlled speed to keep the foil under control no matter the conditions. This wing positions itself perfectly in our range between the new ORIGIN and the STRIKE.

Thanks to our Sail Engineering work, the new SWING offers an excellent planing start with an easy pumping thanks to its natural flexibility. This will allow every rider, regardless of their level, to use a smaller surface area for even more maneuverability.

The SWING continues to benefit from a compact design and a reduced wingspan, making it exceptionally easy to maneuver and surf. Your hand placement will be optimal as well, and never too high, throughout the session.

The SWING is always ready to glide into the slightest wave while remaining light and stable in freefly. It holds perfectly in the air in a neutral position when turning in the waves and flies itself flawlessly, leaving you free to use the power of the wave with little resistance. It also generates power immediately, and this instant power can turn out to be crucial when kicking out of a wave or waterstarting to safely get out of the impact zone when needed.

Offering efficient upwind riding, this fourth edition of the SWING allows you to enjoy long and effortless downwinders.

The SWING is more intuitive and comfortable than ever before, and remains super stable, light, and balanced, all while maintaining a certain smoothness in its traction. This fourth version is the ideal compromise, offering performance in total control and a certain flexibility. It also provides an excellent balance throughout the entire wind range. Beginners and experienced riders alike will enjoy its gentle feel and ease-of-use.

Design

Our fourth edition of the SWING benefits from all the design improvements of the latest STRIKE.

The central strut is now completely straight, which allows us to better control its deformation and possible twisting, while reducing drag. As a result, the infill is a bit lower and deforms less, and we’ve extended it almost all the way to the back. Our innovative Load Diffuser is reduced for weight gain, especially during freefly.

The SWING’s leading edge brings a certain amount of flexibility, but does not penalize control in the high end. The accurate panel layout, precise load management and staggered seams continue to bring exceptional control of the profile in the entire wind range.

The use of HITEX on the inflatable structure, as well as NANO and HT80 on the canopy offer great resistance to elongation and therefore greater durability and performances. These materials are also perfectly distributed to account for the different tensions, high pressures, and weight distribution in each specific area in order to make the SWING an astonishing surf and downwind wing.

Small radial cuts are implemented on the wingtips and on the back of the strut to spread tensions. Aligning the fibre exactly along the load paths means that stretch can be controlled to a never-before-seen level on a wing. Located on the back of the strut, our Load Diffuser made of overlapping panels of hard Mylar and Dacron further helps maintaining the profile sleek and efficient, leading to the ultimate stability, performances, and longevity.

Handles

The SWING is fitted with our new interchangeable handle system: soft, hybrid or even rigid, the choice is yours. Wings come with soft handles pre-installed, but it is now possible for riders to customize handles at their preference.

SAIL ENGINEERING

Sail engineering is the science of controlling our design and its behaviour while flying. These features have been created with one goal in mind: Mastering the kite's loads to maintain the desired shape for the longest time.

1 – WARP TENSION LINE

Woven fabrics feature a longitudinal 0° yarn (Warp) and a transversal 90° yarn (Weft). Therefore, a fabric has great elongation resistance and strength capacities if you apply tension at 0° or 90° along the yarns. But it will deform and stretch when tension is applied at, let’s say, 45°.

2 – LOAD CONTROL PANELING

When engineering the load control paneling, we make sure that fabrics panels are warp/weft oriented, meaning that the load path runs through the yarns. Fabric and seams are then in the best position to receive tensions and maintain the original kite shape.

3 – STAGGERED SEAMS

Most of the kite’s back lines tension is distributed through the trailing-edge panels and seams. As seams are significantly stiffer than the fabric they join, they tend to strain under loads and therefore deform the profile. The staggered seams break that line of tension by balancing the stiffness between seams and cloth, which helps distribute the load over a wider area and maintain the original shape even under high loads.

4 – FABRIC WEIGHT MANAGEMENT

Our sails feature four different cloth weights, from 52 up to 155gr/m². Sail engineering allows us to control our shape and drive load tensions without using heavy fabrics or bulky designs, therefore we can reduce fabric’s weight and use. It results in a lighter, optimized kite.

HT80

The HT80 is a woven double ripstop high tenacity polyester that brings increased stability and allows a better control of the profile of the kite or the wing. This material guarantees great resistance to elongation and tears, as well as increased durability overtime.

HITEX

To meet the specific needs of the development of wings and kites, and to offer a high-performance and durable product without using inaccessible materials, F-ONE has developed HITEX, a new high tenacity polyester. Available in 158g, and exclusively for F-ONE in 178g, this new material is incredibly resistant to elongation and increases the durability of wings and kites. HITEX is an innovative, high tenacity polyester fiber with an enhanced high-quality weaving and coating that increases the fabrics’ resistance. The 178g is a new weight and perfectly matches the needs of the center strut and center of its leading edge. The lighter 158g is used in the leading edge tips. Used throughout the inflatable structure of the wings and kites and designed to handle the high pressures when inflating, HITEX offers performance and resistance. Thanks to extensive Sail Engineering work, the R&D team has placed each weight of HITEX in different areas allowing absolute control of the shape session after session.

NONO

This micro ripstop polyester 55g is used on the canopies of our SWING V3, CWC V2, BREEZE V4 and ONE V2. Wings and kites are often left in the wind to flap. They are also very often wet, salty and sandy; all factors that weaken them. The canopy must therefore be very durable to keep its rigidity over time and to ensure the same performance level between the day of purchase and the end of its life. It benefits from a NANO coating and a Plasma treatment process that brings an increased rigidity, resistance to elongation and tears, and durability. Used by our bluesign-certified factory, Plasma is an eco-friendly technology that uses less chemicals in the finishing process while guaranteeing the same performances and stability.

REACTOR VALVE

The reactor inflation valve offers a high flow connection that twist locks the pump hose to the kite for an easy and super-fast inflation and deflation at the push of a button.

It provides a high air flow rate between the struts and leading edge.

PRE LOADED CANOPY

From the beginning, our wings have had a unique canopy tension that can be compared to that of a harden up windsurfing rig. Our wings are therefore “pre-tensioned” and made to adapt. This ideal tension of the trailing edge when riding guarantees much better performances upwind and in light winds.

SWING LOAD DIFFUSER

Located on the back of the strut, our innovative Load Diffuser made of overlapping panels of hard Mylar and Dacron further helps maintaining the profile sleek and efficient, leading to the ultimate stability, performances, and longevity.

SWING RADIAL TIPS

Small radial cuts are also implemented on the wingtips and on the back of the strut to spread tensions. Aligning the fibre exactly along the load paths means that stretch can be controlled to a never-before-seen level on a wing.

SWING KEVLAR REINFORCEMENTS

The wingtips are protected with abrasion-resistant Kevlar® fabric reinforcements.

SWING VALVES

The wing features two highly efficient inflation valves: one on the central strut and one on the leading edge. These two areas of the wing face different forces, and thus require two different pressure recommendations. As a result, the central strut is thinner in diameter and gains in rigidity thanks to its independent valve that allows for a better control of its pressure.

INTERCHANGEABLE WING HANDLES SYSTEM

In 2024, all our wings are fitted with our new interchangeable handle system. Whether you’re looking for a light and comfortable setup with soft handles, a more direct and aggressive ride with hard handles or something in between with our innovative hybrid handles, we’ve got you covered. Wings come with soft handles pre-installed, but swapping a handle set between wings is quick and easy thanks to our screwless setup.
